The healing of the leper
Jesus had just returned from the mountains and there was a
great crowd following him. Then a leper came forward and knelt before him and
asked Jesus to heal him.
According to the gospel of Mark, Jesus was moved with pity
and he stretched forth his hand and touched him. Immediately, the man was
healed and the leprosy left him.
Jesus advised him to go and show himself to the Priest so as
to undergo the cleansing ceremony as laid down by Moses in the Old Testament.
The man did not listen. He went about and begun to talk freely about it. The
news of his healing spread like wild fire. In the end, Jesus could not enter
any town openly. He rather dwelt in the countryside. Even there, people came to
consult him from every corner.
